Wut Mutt is a dog-breed guessing app for iOS. This policy explains what the app does and doesn't do with your information. The short version: Wut Mutt has no accounts and no advertising, and the only data that ever leaves your device is a photo you deliberately choose to have identified.
The app guesses a dog's breed mix from a photo you take with the camera or pick from your photo library. This only happens when you actively tap REVEAL. When you do:
Anthropic processes the image to produce the guess. Anthropic's handling of API inputs is governed by its own terms and privacy policy; per Anthropic's API policies, inputs submitted through the API are not used to train its models. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
When a reveal succeeds, our service records the breed names it returned, each one's position in the list, and its percentage — so future versions can bundle reference photos for the breeds people actually scan. That's the whole record: no photo, no image data, and nothing that identifies you. It is never linked to your IP address, device, or session, and the rate-limit counter above is deliberately kept separate from it.
If you tap to share, the app draws a card — your photo plus the breed result — and hands it to the standard iOS share sheet. Where it goes from there is your choice and is handled by whichever app or service you pick. We receive nothing.
The App Store version of Wut Mutt always uses our identification service and never asks you for an API key. If you build the app yourself from source without configuring that service, it will instead ask for your own Anthropic API key. In that case the key is stored only in your device's secure Keychain, and photos go directly from your device to Anthropic rather than through our service — so our rate limit and the breed count above do not apply. We never receive, transmit, or store your personal key. You can remove it at any time by deleting the app.
The app remembers one number on your device: which of the five cover stars it showed last, so the next launch shows a different one. It contains nothing about you and never leaves the device.
Breed guesses are generated by Claude, an AI model by Anthropic, from your photo. Results are an educated guess for entertainment — not veterinary, genetic, or dramatic advice. For real answers, ask a vet or a DNA test.
Wut Mutt is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and post the revised version at this address.
